Covid­-19 virus  Infections is the invasion of an organism's body tissues by disease-causing agents, their multiplication, and the reaction of host tissues to the infectious agents and the toxins they produce. Infectious disease, also known as transmissible disease or communicable disease is illness resulting from an infection. Regardless, it is equally capable of taking life.

As concerns grow about the new coronavirus, stats from the department of health on flu cases in South Africa show as many as 11 000 people die from the virus every year. So how does the new coronavirus compare to flu? Here are some of the Symptoms of common human coronaviruses:

  • Runny nose
  • Sore throat
  • Headache
  • Fever
  • Cough
  • General feeling of being unwell

As long as you are human and you experience sickness do not be Afraid. This is here to stay continue with your daily work.

Here is what you can do to protect yourself from harm others and look after yourself. Exercise while you are sick. Avoid close contact with others. Cover your mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing. Clean and disinfect objects and surfaces. 

If you are not sick you can also, protect yourself from getting sick

  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth with unwashed hands
  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick

Sometimes it could be TB which shares the same infections stream. Stay alert and do not be shocked by KZN case. Most people with common human coronavirus illness will recover on their own. However, to relieve your symptoms you can:

  • Take pain and fever medications (Caution: do not give aspirin to children)
  • Use a room humidifier or take a hot shower to help ease
  • A sore throat and cough
  • Drink plenty of liquids
  • Stay home and rest
